With the hectic week (plumbing issues) I haven't gotten a chance to tell you about something very special that our family was involved in last week-end. Our church had an event called "Bring the Love". It was all about bringing the love of Jesus to the city of Las Vegas by serving them. Over 1,000!!! people showed up to serve our community and reach out to people with acts of service and kindness. It was so exciting. There were many ways in which you could serve our community, such as: paint over graffiti, visit the elderly, fix fences, clean parks etc. At first our family was interested in making cards for our service men and women over seas (which is a great thing to do), but we were encouraged to go out of our comfort zones and decided to go to a local park and clean up garbage and approach people and give them free bottled water and microwave popcorn. We had a card we would pass out that said"We hope this simple gesture brightens your day. It's our way of saying God loves you. let us know if we can be of more assistance". The card had information (address, phone # and service times) about our church on the back. We were nervous at first but it ended up being a GREAT experience. Tom, Grant and I all took turns approaching people. Everyone we spoke to were really nice and one man told Tom that he had been thinking about going to church and that God must be looking for him. Our intent was not to push ourselves on people it really was just to "bring the love" to this city of ours, that needs it. (what city doesn't?) Bear with me because I know this is a long post but there's some verses I've just got to share. Jn 13:34,35...love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.By this men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. Gal 6:10a... as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people. Acts 20:35 In everything that I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive." Matt 25:31-46 tells us when we serve others we are serving Jesus. When I read these verses it makes me question the things I fill my time with and wonder what can I change.

Wow! How many members are in your church? That is really cool. If it weren't for cleaning up a park I never would have met John and he has turned out to be a great blessing to me so sometimes when we give we get more in return than what we gave. Speaking of giving, one very nice thing about my job is that it gives me many opportunities every day to go above and behind the call of duty and to really help people and make a big difference in their lives. I daily ask to be a blessing in somebody's life and I always am given opportunities. It is so easy to find out what they need and buy it for them when they can't afford it or to bring Harley in on the week end to visit lonely people who don't get visitors. I love that about my job. I complain about my job way too much.
