outdoor halloween decor

I like my Halloween decor to feature adorable little pumpkins and such. My 10 year old son thinks cute pumpkins are "boring" and "lame". So I have a section of the yard devoted to my cute stuff and he gets to have the rest of the yard devoted to mildly scary stuff.

First I'll show you my little area.

These ceramic jack o lanterns are actually lanterns! Imagine that!

These guys get plugged into the wall.

They look really cool at night.
I buy all of my Halloween decorations at after Halloween sales and save them for the next year. I refuse to pay full price!

Okay, now on to the super scary stuff. Be afraid, be very afraid.....

maybe not

The sign was from the dollar store and shows you what's to come.....

We bought some red and purple silk flowers from the dollar store and I spray painted them black. The little skulls are also from the dollar store.

This guy is on a sensor and pops open when you walk past it.

My bushes were getting too thick so I removed the sprinkler from two of them and let them die. I spray painted them black and will pull them out when Halloween is over.

I think he is kinda cute! Well, he has a nice smile.

We hung some of these bats from a tree.

They have batteries in them and their wings flap, pretty cool.

Thanks for visiting.
I'm linked up to wonderful Outdoor Wednesday!

  1. Very cute! I love the iron cutout with the cat (I think it's iron?). Great creative idea to spray the silk flowers and the dead hedges black, it's a great effect. I'm sure your son is going to have a great Halloween! Kathy

  16. Spray painting the flowers black - what a great idea! I've had to pull out some summer things from my courtyard flower bed and you've just given me an idea for a fill in until after Halloween! Thanks!!

  17. Lisa, I enojoyed the tour of your Halloween decor (& thanks for visiting mine too). Yes, the cute area is just that CUTE!!! And I understand you have to let your 10 year old do his thing. Enjoy that because they grow up so fast. And then you get to do allllllllllll the cute you want & have the memories from when they helped design your decor. And, like us, they bring their "little monsters" to Trick or Treat at your house. FUN!!!!!
