Nesting

I made these sweet, little, nests all by myself and now you can too!!

For this nest I soaked twine in fabric stiffener and then squeezed off the excess and wrapped it around half of a balloon. Learn from my mistakes and cover your drinking glass with something so fabric stiffener doesn't drip all over it!

As you see, for this nest I used some frilly trim from the fabric store. I let this my nests sit all day until the "fabric" is nice and stiff and hard. Then pop the balloon and take it out of your nest.

While my nests were drying I took a 99 cent candlestick holder from the thrift store and a cardboard pot from the craft store and painted them.

I also painted these large eggs.

I painted everything with these three colors. Making some parts darker and some lighter.

Here's the twine nest. I know it looks kind of wonky at this point.

Here is the frilly trim nest. It's not looking so hot either, but never fear....

When you fill them with moss they look ever so much better! I also added some sweet allysum I had growing in my garden.

I am very happy with the way these turned out because at times I had my doubts that it would all come together and "work".
