Are you sick of these yet?

Yes, I made another vase out of garbage. I hope you're not sick of them yet!

My son loves these snacks. When I went to throw the empty container away a lightbulb went off.

When you peel the wrapper off it reveals a plastic container with a nice shape to it.

I tore up pieces of brown paper and used Mod Podge to adher them. Once dry I rubbed some distress ink on.

The paper and ink take on a leather type look. I also added this pretty graphic from.......

The Graphics Fairy of course. My friend Tina from Rubies Place has been making some beautiful pillows using Graphics Fairy images so I think I had Graphics Fairy on my mind. What a treat the Graphics Fairy website is! I wonder how many more times I can say Graphics Fairy?!

Here is the completed vase.

I made this last night and added water to it this morning. I hope it doesn't leak, if it does I'll let you know.

I've joined the party at Room to Inspire!

  3. Great idea, Lisa! Why not give it a new life. I took a sauce can out of the recycling the other day {properly washed out, of course} and made it into a new pen, pencil, brush, emery board, scissor, marker holder. I had a plastic drinking cup originally, so the transformed sauce can is a step up!

  6. way to be eco chic! this is awesome! i love taking something and making it into a work of art! brilliant use of recylced material...you should definitely get the 'eco' world award!
the only problem is that I don't even know if such an award exists! but let's say it does...and I'm the official holder of it!

"I hereby dub thee...the official winner of the eco chic award of 2010"

  7. What a cute idea. I remember doing something similar to this many, many years ago, with masking tape and shoe polish on a rag. Funny how things bring back an OLD memory.

  8. This made me sad for all these containers that I put in the recycle bin. What a great idea! This looks so nice, and would be perfect for sharing flowers from my garden. Keep the ideas coming. Makes me happy!

Don't you just love The Graphics Fairy :) I have been collecting our empty jars instead of putting them in the recycling and can;t wait to finish an assignment so that I can have a go at making some pretty ones. Thank you for the gorgeous inspiration. Big hugs my lovely friend ~ Tina xx

  14. I think it's great that you're having so much fun with reuse! They look great. "Making the Best of Things" just blogged about a 3d effect using hot glue that would go nicely with your vases... http://makethebestofthings.blogspot.com/2010/05/3-d-effect-with-hot-glue.html
