Shabby Lovely Washboard

I'm still working away on my laundry room make-over. I'm excited because it's all starting to come together.  This is my latest project for the room.

I found this little washboard at Ross and thought it had potential. I already have a vintage washboard that I would never touch. But this decorative one I could have some fun with.

The burgandy and orange weren't going to work with the look I'm going for.

First step: Paint it white. Can you tell I was eating Doritos while I worked on this? Sorry.

Next, out came the power sander. I wanted the paint to look shabby.

I printed this image out from Graphics Fairy (love her!). I brushed brown paint around the edges of the image.

I am terrible at sizing things on my computer so I just painted the sides around the image brown and then a light coat of white, since I don't know how to make the image fit perfectly. I used mod podge to adher the image to the washboard.

Here's how she turned out.

I think she's both elegant and shabby.

  20. It is a bit far for you to travel for the weekend but if you come just let me know what to have on hand for breakfast. Are you an eggs, pancakes or waffles kind of gal.

I have one of those bird cages and I love to change out the inside too. Have a great weekend.
