I'm still working away on my laundry room make-over. I'm excited because it's all starting to come together. This is my latest project for the room.
I found this little washboard at Ross and thought it had potential. I already have a vintage washboard that I would never touch. But this decorative one I could have some fun with.
The burgandy and orange weren't going to work with the look I'm going for.
First step: Paint it white. Can you tell I was eating Doritos while I worked on this? Sorry.
Next, out came the power sander. I wanted the paint to look shabby.
I printed this image out from Graphics Fairy (love her!). I brushed brown paint around the edges of the image.
I am terrible at sizing things on my computer so I just painted the sides around the image brown and then a light coat of white, since I don't know how to make the image fit perfectly. I used mod podge to adher the image to the washboard.
Here's how she turned out.
I think she's both elegant and shabby.

Your washboard turned out beautiful...so creative! What a great way to add charm to your laundry room!
