I found this cool candelabra, dripping with crystals, at the thrift store, for $8.99. I couldn't resist bringing her home. (you just know she's a girl!)
The first thing I did was remove all the crystals and clean them. It was actually FUN cleaning them and watching them start to sparkle. Out of the 20 crystals only one is missing. I thought that was pretty good.
Next I painted her white and added some pale gray to the raised areas. Some of you may not agree with painting this piece, but my theory is, anything from a thrift store is fair game!
Here she is with her new white coat and shimmering crystals.
I surrounded her with some mercury glass pieces for a little extra sparkle.
So very girly girl!
Here she is plugged in. The little light bulbs cost almost as much as the candelabra.

very pretty bling indeed! It looks so nice in your sweet little vignette!

ReplyDeleteI can't see why anyone would complain about painting this. It was unwanted and you've made it beautiful. Well done!

You took that sweet lil' gal from dated to dreamy. It's a shabby chic, sparkly dream. Jealous. Thank you so much for sharing and linking it up to my party, Lisa. I truly appreciate it. Loving your vignette with the burlap memo board. Yum.

it is beautiful! I love the whole vignette. I don't think I've ever used the term vignette before.
ReplyDeleteYes siree...she is definitely a girl and a beautiful one after you finished giving her a makeover!
ReplyDeleteI love the crystals...you can tell they are old because of the color of the wires. The new ones are usually screaming bright gold. The crystals alone would have cost more than the whole lamp at an antique mall.
Great job!
Rhonda
What a great girly find! I love that you painted her white. Perfect...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely, your paint treatment has made a new woman out of her!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! Love it. With Joy, Carey
