I have one more bit of white and silver Christmas decor for you.
Believe it or not I am using other colors for Christmas too!
I had this tray I wasn't using anymore.
It was a bit too shiny and a bit too orange for my taste.
I quickly brushed on some white paint and then used a damp paper towel to smooth it out.
That's it!
I let the brown show through so it would look distressed, w/o the pain of sanding it.
Then I plopped some lovely scrapbook paper down inside the tray.
I grabbed some small books from our bookshelves.
For Men Only sounds like a really provocative title doesn't it?
Well calm down, it's a book our church handed out on Father's day.
I covered the books with white paper and then used a french script rubber stamp on the paper.
I filled my Pottery Barn pot with greens and sparkly things.
I used my favorite wood and metal reindeer.
I love using these in different places each year.
I just found these candle holders on mark down at TJ Maxx.
I placed battery operated candles inside.
Here's the completed tray!
I can move it around the house and place it where I want.
Here it is in my living room.
I don't think I've ever shown this room on my blog before.
My toddler had snagged one of the candle holders already.
He loves to turn the candles on and off over and over again.

wonderful!

It looks gorgeous. I love the tray and your decor is beautiful. What a lovely vignette. Perfect. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteLisa it is just beautiful!! I LOVE the reindeer!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a delightful tray vignette! Wondering how you did the script stamping so straight...
ReplyDeleteHi Joyce,
ReplyDeleteThe stamp I have is really big. Almost the size of my hand. So it was easy to line it up with the book. When stamps are small I do have trouble and often ende up having my stamps go on crooked.
I have that stamps too! IT's a great one, isn't it? I've been stamping everything in sight recently. My children should watch out or they'll end up with French Script on their little faces!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the tray idea. You've completely transformed it!

Looks amazing. I like white and silver this year, too, and reindeer. The Bavarian Christmas linky party is still open-won’t you come and join us at http://dobermans-by-the-sea.blogspot.com/2010/11/1st-christmas-linky-party-at-dobermans.html and while you are there join the give-a-ways going on.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tray. I like the fact that you can move it around and change the look of an area instantly. I am envious of your Pottery Barn pot. I saw those in the store and they are lovely.

What a stunning centerpiece, your attention to detail is what makes it so special.....covering the books and the mix of textures! Perfect.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely! I use trays in my decor mostly on the dining room table. Easy to move centerpieces off for dining! (Real life has a way of happening, doesn't it?) Love the part about your toddler moving the candle and votive! Enjoy these moments. . . as they disappear all too quickly!
Fondly,
Pat
Very pretty! I love it. It's so fun decorating with trays. I have one sitting on my side table in my living room decorated all pretty for Christmas.

Great idea for that tray - I have a few that I can try it on. My 3 year old is having a grand ol' time with these decorations ~ which is why many of mine are not made of glass, its not easy.
