We're moving to Texas!

This morning I noticed I haven't posted yet in the month of June.
Wow, that is totally unlike me!
But, I have been super duper busy.
As I mentioned in the title we are moving to Texas this month.
My hubby got a new job and it all happened incredibly quickly.
My husband has been to Texas quite a few times for work and he loves it there.
It is so fun to see my husband so excited about this move.
I have never been to Texas, but it is someplace that I have always thought I would like and someplace I've wanted to visit for years and years.

I will be leaving on a house hunting trip soon and I am looking forward to checking out the great state of Texas for myself.
We will be living in the Houston area.
We have only lived in Illinois a year and it is wonderful here, so for me it is hard to leave and moving so soon is not very fun, but I'm excited for the adventure God has in store for our family.
I will check back in when I get a chance.

  6. Here's an early welcome to Texas! Get ready to SWEAT!!! ;-) I live in Pearland, which is country living (you are allowed to have pretty much any livestock except pigs) and property taxes are LOW and it's all within fancy shopping amentities...our little neighborhood has it's own police station, city hall and fire dept. and quaint schools around..it's called Brookside Village...also we are 20 minutes from Texas Medical Center, the zoo and 15 minutes away from "Beltway 8" (that is a tolls road) for easier access anywhere in town. You might also want to know that Brookside Village is only a 30 minute drive from IKEA!!!. Alvin and Manvel are neighbors to Pearland but further hidden and the access to all the areas I mentioned above are longer to get to!

  17. My husband and I just made a cross country move from So Cal to Florida. Driving through the state of Texas...it looks like an amazing state! We weren't able to explore as we were on a time crunch but downtown Houston was awesome!!! How exciting for you and your family!!!

  19. From Illinois to Houston, Texas? you will love Texas but Houston is VERY humid..but you'll get used to it! I was born and raised in the northwest part of Houston. We now live abou 80 miles north of there.
    Good luck house hunting!

  22. We go every year to visit our inlaws in Houston every year...we can't get enough of all the authentic mexican restaurants or taquerias there and SO cheap! We also love stopping by for donuts/kolaches at Shipley's Donuts (a Houston staple) luckily there are tons of locations all around!..and an IKEA in the city..doesn't get sweeter than that! Congrats on your upcoming move!

  24. I was born and raised in Texas and you will LOVE it! Houston is close to the coast so take advantage of that. You MUST get to the Hill Country and Austin-area ASAP though! Good luck with the house-hunting!

  26. Having lived in San Antonio for 10 years, I encourage you to visit. It is a marvelous city. I love Texas; our son still lives there. Be sure to get a bumper sticker that reads: I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as soon as I could.
Yes, Houston is hot and humid. Yes, Texans are the proudest bunch of folks you'll find anywhere. I still remember the first time a Texan informed me "We used to be our own county, you know". Love, love that state.

  27. Moving again?! Oh, that sounds so exciting, Lisa. I can't wait to follow along on your new adventure :)

  28. How exciting! I know how you feel about moving so soon - we've done that many times. But I'm sure it will be great! From what I can tell you can get a lot of house for the money in Texas so that's a bonus!

  29. Congrats on the move! I lived in the Houston area for a year (Friendswood), but have since relocated to the Dallas area, asteticly speaking, not the best looking city, but the friendlyness of people sure make up for it....as long as you are not in the highway. So just make sure you get a house close to work, you don't want to drive all of Houston everyday.

  30. Congrats, Lisa! Best of luck with house hunting and the move. Think of all the fun you will have decorating a new home.

  31. Welcome to Texas! I won't repeat what the other commenters have said except with 'ditto, ditto' lol. You will also be only a couple hours from Round Top/Warrenton and a little further (but still a doable weekend trip) from Canton for First Mondays ... plus there are often good auctions in central Texas (just check out auctionzip.com and put in your zip code and a radius).

I hope you love it as much as the rest of us do!

  32. Congratulations!!! I'm finding it a bit tougher to post in the summer & I don't have a HUGE move ahead of me! Sometimes things just get in the way, right? Good luck house hunting & enjoy your last few weeks in Illinois before heading to Texas!

  33. I hope you like Texas - just don't judge us by July and August! The weather is much friendlier the rest of the year and it's a great freedom loving state. It took a while for me to get used to it when we moved here, but it's my second favorite state (Oklahoma is first).

    So, welcome!

(Saw your blog on My Heart's Song.)
