My Entry way

My favorite vignette is the simple one I have in my entry way.
I started this vignette out of necessity.
Because there is a staircase behind the cabinet I can't hang a picture, I have to lean them up.
My little guy always ends up knocking over the picture while going up the stairs and I live in fear of the glass breaking and flying everywhere.
So I decided to prop up this piece of subway art from Marshalls because it's on canvas.
So I don't have to worry about it shattering.
I propped things partway in front of it as well to help anchor it in place.

Last year I imagined what my dream lantern would look like and I was so thrilled when it materialized before my eyes at Hobby Lobby.
It was really cheap too; around $20.00 for a large lantern.
I just love the color and texture of this lantern!
The little pot coordinates so perfectly with the lantern so I usually put them together.
The little faux fern never needs water ;) so I love it too.

On the other side of the artwork is this fabulous finial.
I saw some finials on some blogs and went crazy for them.
I started searching online for a finial of my own, but with the cost of shipping
they were always too much moola.
I was jumping for joy when I found this one at Homegoods.
But, there was no price on it and it was the only one.
I was so scared they wouldn't sell it to me!
But luckily a nice lady knew the price (around $16) and she was a able to print up a new sticker for me.
(I live in fear of my kids breaking it, but I'll enjoy it while I can)

The cabinet I've had quite a few years now.
I found it at Kirkland Home. I adore the Frenchy style of the piece.
They large pot is really old. It's from Pier 1.
I love it because it's a woven piece, rather than terra cotta, so my kids can't break it.
Do you notice a theme in my decorating?
Yes, everything is through the eyes of......will my kids damage/break this????
They don't mean to be destructive. They are the sweetest, best, boys in the world.
But they are wild and crazy boys. That's my life and I love them w/ all my heart!!

Speaking of boys.....
Whenever I want to take Levi's picture, he wants nothing to do with looking at the camera.
But when I try to take a picture of something else he keeps posing for me! LOL!
He also was repeatedly kicking his ball, so I had to quickly snap pictures between balls
 shooting through the room.
If you look really carefully you'll see one of my hair clips on the top of Levi's head.
This little guy cracks me up!
Today he insisted on walking around the house naked, but with his winter hat on!

Napa House and Winery

I am in love with this Provence style home and winery in Napa California.
I want to move in...and I don't even like wine!

Girly Cabinet Organization

The cabinets in our master bathroom are extra tall so there is a lot of wasted space.
I wanted more storage for all my products so I bought these shelves at Lowe's for around $11.00.

I already had some little baskets (the one with the pink liner) that I bought at Target last year.
They fit perfectly, but I needed more.
I was really hoping Target would carry them again this February.
They did, unfortunately the baskets are smaller and flimsier and the liners are red instead of pink.
But until I find something else they will have to do.

I got rid of the liners and decided it would be fun to paint them all pink.
I live with three males, so it's nice to have one little area in the house that really girly and all mine!

Here are the baskets on the shelves with storage underneath for larger items.
We're making progress!

To keep things tidy and organized I made labels for the baskets.

I used some pretty scrapbook paper, inked the sides and used little rubber alphabet stamps.
A hole punch and a bit of twine finished them off.
Easy peasy!

Now it will be so easy to grab the right basket and mind just what I need.

I purged a lot of products when we moved this summer and I am trying hard to keep it that way.
Not buying a bunch of products and throwing out things I'm not using.
There's no point in trying to organize if you have to much stuff.
Paring things down makes it so much easier to find things.

Here's the end result.
Pink, girly and organized!
I'm really happy with how it turned out.
BTW: I keep bottles of mousse, hair spray, contacts solution etc. in a basket that I keep on the counter top.
I use these items daily so I don't want to be bothered getting them out of the cabinet everyday and
 putting them back.

Linking Up To: Beneath My Heart

Sometimes it's the little things.....

Sometimes a very small change, for a very little amount of money, can make me so happy.

I had this fake plant, but I never liked how orange the pot was.
I meant to paint it, but never got around to it.

Then I found this little piece of pottery at the thrift store.
I really liked the texture. It reminded me of faux bois.
I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but it was cheap so I brought it home.

Then one day it occurred to me....why not put the fake plant into the thrift store pot?
So I put some floral foam into the pottery, pulled the plant out of the old pot and stuck it in the new pot.
Easy, peasy! :)

I placed a bit of Spanish moss on top of the floral foam to cover any gaps.

I really love the way it looks now!
