Model Home Tour

I toured two beautiful homes this weekend and I just had to share them with you.
I was very surprised to see how this particular model was decorated.
I'm used to seeing models decorated in a contemporary or traditional design.
But, this home had cottage style with some industrial accents.
It has a Restoration Hardware vibe to it.

I LOVE the homes exterior!!
It has a French Country the mix of stone and brick...the arch leading to the homes entry...
and the beautiful shutters

Even the garage doors are pretty!
Most of the home in SE Texas are brick and I prefer the brown toned brick that this home has to the red brick (that  my house has).

The entry is perfect.
I really want this table and arched window/mirror.
The mercury glass lamp and orchid are pretty enough that you don't need anything else on top.
Notice the gorgeous floors this home has too.

The family/great room has so many things that are hot in the blogging world right now, like subway art and even a chevron throw on the couch.

I love the wood on the TV cabinet.
It looks like the wood has been bleached or liming wax has been used on it.
What do you think gives the wood this appearance?

A trend I've been noticing in newer homes is a corner fireplace.
This is so smart! It makes furniture placement so much easier.
You still have the beauty and warmth of a fireplace without taking up precious wall space in a room.

My favorite thing in the room is the light fixture (hence so many photos).
The room backs up to the backyard so you have a pretty view.
See those chairs in front of the window?
How about a closer look.

So cute and kind of funky!
I love the grain sack inspired pillows.

A big white kitchen with a built in desk and breakfast room.
I like the industrial touch the stools and artwork bring to the room.
Th gray subway tile is so nice.

Another favorite room was the dining room, although I think they should have used a different light fixture.
The furniture is so pretty and I like the large scale horse art.
The large lanterns are a dramatic touch.
I think the lanterns and the light tones of the wood give the room a slight beachy feel.

On the other wall were these gorgeous smoky mirrors!
I have a project in mind that has been inspired by these mirrors.

One of the bedrooms was decorated to look like it was for a teen boy.
It had a vintage industrial feel.
I am (still) in the process of redoing my teen sons room.
This is the look I'm going for so I was excited to see this room.

How many bloggers have made pillows like these number pillows?
I thought it was so cool to see all the bloggy influences in this house.

Cool industrial style desk, mirror and accessories.
I really like the subtle striping on the walls too.

Not the best shot on my part, but I wanted to show you this room set up as an office.
One wall was all built in bookshelves.

They were styled so nicely.
I love the books with their crinkly covers.

The rest of the room was painted a dramatic midnight blue.
More awesome horse art.

I've never seen this in a house before, but there was a little entry area in front of two of the bedrooms.

The chair was pretty and I really love the lamp.

Outside is a built in covered patio.
I adore the chunky stone floor.
Our home in Las Vegas had this type of patio and having the built in cover really made a difference
on super hot days (which we had lots of).

The second house I toured also has a French Country look.
The reason I chose to tour these two homes is because they are one story homes with high ceilings
and open floor plans.
I had this style of house when I lived in Las Vegas and I just loved it.
I hate going up and down stairs all day long.

The great room has a really pretty coffee table.
It didn't show up very well in the photos but the doors hanging on the wall looked old with chippy paint.

Beautiful stone fireplace and I like the dark painted niche for the TV.

This bedroom was very pretty with the cottage bedding and beachy lamps.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!

  2. Those houses are TOTALLY you! The second living room did indeed remind me of yours in Las Vegas. The entry way in #1 - when I saw it I almost said outloud "that is SO Lisa!" Ha ha!

  3. Thanks for taking us along with you on those beautiful home tours! I love going on home tours and haven't been to any in quite a while. I loved the kitchen in the first one. Also, shared your love of that huge chandelier in the family room of the first one. Love the home exterior too.

  4. These houses are so YOU. So pretty, Ya it looks like it was decorated all in RH. I bet they sure were fun to walk through.

  5. Wow, I love the way they were decorated and wish I could get a job like that.. how fun!

  6. Loved this home tour and everything about its interior! Thanks so much for sharing.

  7. Loved these tours! That kitchen in the first one was amazing. I'm also loving that mercury glass lamp. :) Thank you for taking the time to snap all these pics. :)

  8. Lisa it is so nice to see some model homes that are not so cheesy. These two homes are beautiful and are my favorite style of home as well. Whoever did the decorating for them did a fantastic job on staying relative and up to date on the changing styles. I agree with you on the Highland home. I am surprised that they left the builder grade chandelier there in the dining area instead of changing it out. Thanx for sharing!

  9. These are beautiful homes. It looks like decorators are catching on to some of the things that so many of us like. I loved the teen boy's room too ~ I'm going to be redoing my son's room sometime soon also so it was nice to see. Thanks, Lisa!

  10. Beautiful tours. Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers, Gee

  11. Thanks for taking us along on these fabulous tours Lisa, I love them both inside and out!

  12. I just love home tours. These are so pretty. I adore that mirror and table in the first home too. I'd love for you to link this up to my Swing into Spring party, if you haven't already.

  13. Ok...that first home...I'm ready to move in! ;) So beautiful and I can easily change out the dining room light fixture. ;) Thanks for sharing...I am so glad that I am not the only one who loves home tours! Jesse @ Scout & Nimble

  14. Oh how I love home tours! The outside with the french country look reminds me so much of the homes in Edmond where we moved from. I really liked some of the lamps and accessories they used in both homes. Thanks for taking us along. :)

  15. Pretty homes! Our Muskoka place was a one-story with high ceilings too which I loved - perfect for retirement too when stairs get to be too much.
The decor is so refreshing! Strange choice for dining room fixture. We had a corner fireplace in two of our homes and to be honest, we hated it. We found furniture arrangement to be tricky, especially if the room isn't very big. xo

  16. I want to buy that house! I went to a model home on Monday. A cottage style and darling. Your pictures are inspiring. I pinned the kitchen - the art is cool.

  17. loved it! I have a question in the close up of the book shelves we can see that the chic shelves are not just a plain piece of wood do you know if there is a name for that type of board or that type of shelf? and could I call up home depot or somewhere and ask if they carry that type of board/shelf

  18. I have a corner fireplace and did not appreciate that until I read your comment

  19. They are beautiful. I swear, I could tour houses every minute of the day!

  20. I love home tours. Thanks for sharing yours.

  21. Lisa, What beautiful homes! I could move right in.

  22. Gorgeous! I love seeing the use of blue in home decor. Those homes look a lot like some that are in neighborhoods where I live. I noticed the Texas pennant and that you mentioned SE Texas. We might me very near each other.

  23. Moving to Houston this month. Just toured a hundred homes and my favorite new home was a Highland home. They have a model in Bridgeland with a white kitchen that is to die for!! Very nice. Can't wait to see what else I find!
