Sweet Little Table Makeover

Today I'm finally getting around to showing you a table makeover that I finished last year.
When we found out we were moving last year I was quickly trying to use up all of my chalk paint.
That stuff is expensive and you aren't allowed to move paint.
(My husbands company paid to have us moved and there is a list of stuff you can't bring)

I've had this table a long time and I was trying to remember when I bought it.
I found this very old photo from my blog back when we lived in Las Vegas.
I'm pretty sure I got it from an antique shop there.

Here is a before picture I took last year in our old house in Illinois.
The piece was pretty scratched up and the top is wobbly.
I need to figure out how to stabilize it.
Until I do I just don't place anything breakable on top. :)

I painted the table with Pure White Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
I then used a very unusual glaze from Lowe's.
It was a metallic charcoal gray color. I had to throw the rest away when we moved so I don't have any further information on it anymore.

I get a little bored of plain white furniture and I like the rustic look that a glaze can give.

The feet are kind of cool and kind of creepy!
That is what I love about vintage furniture, it has such great character.

She is a pretty little thing, isn't she?

Before and After

I checked today and I only posted four times last month.
Unfortunately I can't make any promises to do any better for the next few months.
It is fun in the sun time, but I will try to pop in when I can.

I love summer time!
Even if it is creepy humid here in Houston.
I have lots of fun things planned with my boys this summer.
I hope that you have a great summer too!

  1. Hi Lisa,
I love the table and I love the glaze you did to it. It really is pretty. Take some time to enjoy summer and your boys. We will all be here. I am a summer girl too and love this time of year in Illinois. So I may be light on my posts to enjoy the summer months.

I have a similar table and want to break out the paint now!

  10. I love that style table with it's new paint color! I also love the cute pillow in the chair sitting beside it! That's too bad that you weren't able to move paint across the states. If you drove, I would've just put it in my trunk!! Those cans are small anyway.

  11. Love it! I like creepy feet too....they just do not make furniture like they used to. The glaze really made the piece special :)

  13. Beautiful table, and it looks perfect by that gorgeous chair! I like the glaze you added to it also, adds more character! I understand about the needing to post more often. I have had trouble posting more than once a month for while too, things just get too busy. Have fun with your boys! :)

Summer fun with kids is so much more important than blogging! Have fun and be safe.

  16. Love it! So pretty. I know what you mean about not moving things - I've had to ditch many things due to moves. It's a balmy 111F today and luckily our AC is now fixed (although a little noisy it seems). But at least we are staying cool xo

  20. Why does white make anything look so much better? Your table has great lines and the white brings out the details.

I'm thinking summer is going to be slow on my blog, too. It's hard with the kiddos home and they're only young once! Enjoy your summer! :)

  35. Hi Lisa,
Oh wow, did you feel like you were visiting yourself in a way? When I came to visit after you commented me on my thrifty find (Lamp) I felt like I could have moved my table and chair and lamp to your post side by side and it feels like we both were talking about doing the same theme post, lamp, chair and side table it made me smile.

Love your table and nothing like a big move to get you going on painting up all that needs to be painted. Love your setting, I could so move in and make my pieces blend with your likeness.

Thank you for gracing your beautiful words over at my place with a comment that joys.

    xx
