We bought a new house! (tour)

After renting for almost three years we are very excited to be homeowners again!
We got the keys today and I am dreaming up all kinds of decorating ideas!
(Levi is excited too!)

I love the stone and brick on the front of the house!
I plan on planting loads of flowers out front and I'd like to edge the flower beds with stone.
It is a one and a half story house. The only thing upstairs is the game room.
I have owned a one story before and I loved it! They are so much easier to clean!

The first room in the house is a study with french doors.
I am hoping to change the carpet to hardwood and use the room as a living room.

There is a pretty bay window in the room.

Next up is the dining room.
It came with a very pretty chandelier, but I plan on changing it to the one on the floor.
I have never changed a fixture out before and I am a bit nervous. :/

There are a lot of arches in the house, which I adore!

The kitchen is much prettier in person.
I would like to do something with the island to make it more interesting.

It is not a cottage style kitchen, but I don't know if I can paint the cabinets.
The wood is really pretty in person.
There was a lot of glare from the window so you can't see the detail in these photos.

The breakfast nook is just a plain box right now, but I have plans to add lots of charm!
I've already bought a new light fixture for this room too.
You'll just have to wait to see it though....it is a surprise!

The family room has pretty hand scraped floors, a high ceiling and my favorite thing.......

This gorgeous rustic fireplace! I just love the stone and the chunky mantel!
I grew up in the 70's when it was common to have a high hearth that you could sit on and I've always
 liked them.

The master bedroom has great windows that look out to the back yard.
I plan to plant lots of roses and jasmine to look at!

I like the arched window in the master bathroom.
(oops blurry photo)

I'm thinkng of taking out the large mirror and placing two mirrors side by side.
I also would like to add some bin pulls to the cabinets to add cottage charm.

A seperate vanity for my hubby (love this!)

A covered patio! The back yard is pretty much a blank slate of grass, so I am dreaming about landscaping
 and flowers and more!
The electricity wasn't on yet so it was too dark to take photos of the boys bedrooms and the game room.

I am so looking forward to decorating this house to my hearts content and taking you along for the ride!

  5. Its beautiful! Congratulations. I prefer single story homes because they seem to have all the space spread out instead of upward. We have always lived in them even with four children...it got very crammed when they reached teenage. Thankfully we are a close family!

That fireplace is amazing. I also love the french doors. We have them leading into the study too(which is my studio). Love them. Oh you are going to have so much fun!!!! Best wishes. xxo

  17. I'm moving to Katy from AZ in 1 month... I am so nervous about giving up my beautiful home to rent while my husband goes to school! Thank you for sharing your home tour, I now feel like there are cute girls with a love of decorating that may become my neighbors and friends... and that all good things don't happen right away. I can't wait to see what you do to make this home truly yours... Good luck! XOXO

  37. Wow, it's beautiful Lisa. I'm still looking and waiting for something to come up in Huntington Beach, but believe me, I haven't seen anything as pretty as yours yet. Lots of old homes on tiny lots, not very 'done' and very pricey for what you get. I'm so happy for you!

  40. Your new house is beautiful, and full of that Texas charm. I noticed you live in Houston, we used to live in the friendswood area, and currently reside in Dallas, are you in the woodlands?
