Hello lovelies!

"Wow, look she's actually posting something on her blog!"
" It's a Thanksgiving miracle!"
 tee hee :)

Yes, I'm back with a quick Thanksgiving project.

I stopped into Hobby Lobby one day after Halloween and the store had marked all their Fall merchandise down 50%.
So I picked up this large unfinished wood pumpkin for only $5.00.

A friend of mine had put a bible verse on a wood pumpkin she had found at a craft fair.
I just loved it and wanted to do the same.
So first I painted the pumpkin white with a gray stem. I added the gray paint while the white was still wet which helped blend it nicely.

I then used chalk to write my verse out and make sure it was spaced nicely.
I had to wipe it off with a dry towel and start over several times.
I then painted right over the chalk.
Once the paint dried I sanded off some of the paint since I like that look.
Finally I used a wet rag to remove the rest of the chalk.

I started out really liking it, but then I posted a photo on my Instagram account and my handwriting really started bugging me!
I probably should have used a stencil, but that takes so long and quite frankly the project wouldn't have ever got done.
I am toying with painting over my lettering and finding some nice stickers to use instead.
I don't know. We'll see.

BTW: the bible verse on my pumpkin is Psalms 107:1 & 1 Chronicles 16:34

I hope you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!!

  10. I love this, Lisa. Anyone can do a stencil (well, except me!), but this is YOU, and that's what is so special! Love this verse, too.

    Happy Thanksgiving!
