Our Christmas Mantel 2014

I've been working my booty off making a special sign for my Christmas mantel.
It turned out to be way more time consuming and complicated than I thought it would be and I finally decided to give up!
I need to conserve my energy for the rest of my Christmas decorating, so here is my mantel for 2014 and I'm fine with it!

This is our first Christmas in our new home with our beautiful big stone fireplace.
I was excited to decorate it, but also a bit intimidated by it's size.
It is huge!
Our tree will be put up next to the fireplace, but I haven't been able to get one yet.
I feel like I'm behind all the other bloggers and quite frankly it is sucking some of the joy out
of my Christmas.

Scale is important so I started pulling some of my larger items out of Christmas storage to use
 on the mantel.
I hung a big chunky greenery garland and used my largest deer.
If you check out my Instagram you can see that I changed my deer from gold to silver using
Rub-N-Buff.
I bought them online from Pottery Barn at an after Christmas sale a couple of years ago.
They looked silver online, but much to my surprise ended up being gold and I've always had trouble finding a spot for them because I don't use gold in my Christmas decor. Now I'm loving them!

I fell in love with this huge Old World Santa I found at CVS and thought it would be fun for the kids, so I added it to the hearth.
I waited until I got a coupon in the mail because I hate paying full price for anything and I was just holding my breath that it would still be there.
Yay! It was still there and I got a great price so I love it all the more. :)

My grain sack stocking were made by Jill and I love them so!
The lanterns are from Ikea and I spray painted them red.
I just love using red on my fireplace mantel.
It is so festive and I can enjoy some of my more neutral decor in other rooms in the house.
The vintage ceiling tin I found at an antique mall last year.

Even though I didn't get my sign made for the mantel I was still happy enough with it to use it as a back drop for our Christmas cards this year, so it's all good!

  1. Lisa,
Just gorgeous. I love the stone around your fireplace so gorgeous. I had to smile even the boys shirts go with your Mantel decor. Too cute they are going to be the best Christmas card picture. Your boys are handsome guys. Enjoy the week ahead.

  3. I love your fireplace! I like the fact that it's big and chunky. I love the grain sack stockings you have and the red and white decor you used. I wouldn't stress out over not having your tree yet. It's only December 8th! You've still got plenty of time. If you're getting a live one, you don't want to get it too early anyway or it can dry out before Christmas! Your boys look just alike, btw. So handsome!
