Christmas Home Tour 2015

Hello and welcome to my Christmas home tour 2015!
I think I am the slowest Christmas decorator in all of blogland. :)
But better late than never I say.

Greeting visitors to our house is a large nutcracker that I have owned for at least 15 years and hope to pass down to one of my kids some day.
I found a buffalo check basket at Target this year and was excited to use it because I am using a lot of plaid and checks in the house, as you soon will see.

Many years ago I bought this wreath at an after Christmas sale and I use it year after year.
To freshen it up this year I added this cute sign I found in Target's dollar section (it was $3.00).

Welcome to the living room. I have one whole picture for you!
I plan on working on this room a lot in 2016 so I didn't spend to much time in here.
I got the plaid pillow from Amazon and the cutest dear pillow ever from The Parsonage Queen.
The plaid deer is from Target and I got this darling coffee can from The Urban Barnhouse
Both the deer and tree were placed in a vintage soda crate.

Moving on to our family room and our fireplace mantel.
More plaid! I found the banner/garland at Target and used a stencil to add the word Christmas to it.

I added some snowy grapevine trees, red lanterns, white deer and a boxwood wreath.
Fresh greens drape over the sides.
You can turn the lanterns on and there are star lights inside, unfortunately I couldn't get a good picture.
I found them last year at Walgreens and got them for 75% off after Christmas....score!

And what do we have next to the fireplace.....
Our Christmas tree!

I really love having our tree next to the fireplace it makes the room so festive!
We love to have the lights on every night and we really enjoy the tree.

I brought in a Santa I found last year at CVS because I just love his plaid coat and hat.
One of my Kubu chairs sports a red striped pillow and our kitty likes to hang out here.

I found a fun birdhouse with a license plate roof for almost nothing at the thrift store and added it to the bottom of the tree as well.
Early in the season I came across this buffalo checked wrapping paper and I just love it!

This year we wrapped the bottom of our tree in a beadboard collar that I made.
If you'd like more information on it click here.

Something new I added to our tree this year is touches of black to coordinate with the
 buffalo check wrapping paper.
I found these large wood tag style ornaments at Michael's.
The plaid ribbon is from Hobby Lobby.

I made the chalkboard ornaments and got the idea from The Hamby Home.
I used the same mini blackboards that she did, but I painted my frames with a metallic paint.
I also made the embroidery hoop ornaments and got the idea from The Rustic Cottage Gal.
I tried to find plaid or buffalo fabric everywhere and couldn't find any so I ended up using wrapping paper in the hoops.

Target has these super cute plaid deer this year and I bought a bunch of them!
Last year I bought a bunch of unfinished wood snowflakes after Christmas for 50 cents a piece and I spray painted them red.

Next up is my youngest son's room.
I have been working on giving him a woodsy lodge themed room so it really lends itself to Christmas decorating.
The moose pillow is from The Nest UK.
When I placed the deer head above my son's bed I was concerned it might freak him out a bit, but he hasn't said anything about it.

My son loves having a tree with lights in his room.
I placed it in a vintage minnow bucket and decorated the tree with felt birds.
I have the Santa nutcracker talk to my son at night and it cracks him up.

My kids love having lots of red in the house at Christmas time, but luckily they don't care how I decorate the dining room so I get to use the neutrals that I love!

I kept things very simple in here.
A pedestal dish with greenery and mercury glass acorns and some finials on the table.
On the wall I took a photo of a deer that I took back when we lived in Illinois and had it blown up into an engineer print.
I used the same print in my dining room last year, but this year I went bigger!

A very simple place setting.
White dishes, white napkins and for a napkin ring a blackboard tag that I simply tucked some greens behind.

Across from the dining room is a display that I have shown you before.
A Dear Lillie blackboard print, an antler and some moss topiary that I made.
The table is from Kirkland's and the large basket is a recent thrift store find.

I want to wish you a very merry Christmas from our family to ours!
