Our Entryway

We've been in out house in the Austin TX suburbs for a year now and I am still working on changing all the rooms to fit my style.
Luckily it's something I love to do! Our entry way started out as one long, brown wall.
There was no where to hang a coat or slip on your shoes.

My hard drive crashed so I no longer have a before photo of the entry way, but this is our hallway and it is the exact brown/plum color that our entry way used to be.
(painting the hallways is on the to-do list!).
I painted the entry way Sherwin Williams Pussy Willow. I love this gray!

I wanted a little spot in the entry way where we could sit down and put on our shoes before heading out the door.
Years ago a friend gave me this sweet little stool and told me that I could paint it.
I really liked the sage green and left it alone for years, but finally decided to strip it down to the raw wood.
Ugh, I hate stripping furniture. Such a yucky, messy job!

Here it is...worth the work!
It turns out under the sage green was dark green and under that was white paint.
I ended up leaving bits of white on the stool because I liked the way it looks.
I also love how the raw wood shows off the cool old screws on the top.

Now my favorite thing in my entry way makeover are these amazing Made In England hooks. Abodant sent them to me and I love them!
They are like a beautiful piece of jewelry that just makes an outfit!
They are so nice and sturdy too.

I placed the hooks on a cheap wood shelf that I painted white.
I feel like the hooks took a cheap piece and made it look high end.

The shelf on top can be changed out seasonally which is fun.

Fresh flowers forever!

So there you have it.... a small space, but now it has a ton of function with a place to hang things and a place to sit.
Normally I would hang a mirror in the entry to check my hair before I walk out the door, but there is a mirror in my living room which is just a few steps away.

I decided to try out a shoe basket under the hooks as well, but ended up placing the basket next to the front door and put the stool back.

The canvas art covers up a light switch (which is rarely used) and our alarm.
The canvas is light so it's easy to slip on and off if we need to access the switches or alarm.

Thanks again to Abodent for the wonderful hooks! They really make the space!

  5. You've been making great progress with your new home! I like how you used those hooks in your foyer. I also like the color grey you chose.

  6. Your foyer is looking perfect with these minimal things. Overuse of furniture pieces and decor items makes foyer so clumsy, but your one is simply perfect.
